Efficient tax planning
Our Wealth Planning team has demonstrable expertise in advising clients on making disclosures to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to settle any unpaid tax liabilities using, in particular, the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility (LDF).
The LDF started in 2009 and is an agreement between the governments of Liechtenstein and the UK enabling UK citizens to proactively declare previously undisclosed assets to HMRC. This is done at more favourable terms than other tax investigations – participants normally receive a fine of 10 per cent of tax due instead of 100 per cent, with tax interest and penalties only sought for the previous 10 years rather than the previous 20 years – enabling individuals to voluntarily regularise their affairs.
Our team members have particular skills in effectively handling the tax affairs of a company, whilst also advising individuals regarding their relationship with that company.
In relation to onshore activities, we continue to provide legal assistance with the establishment and administration of UK domestic trusts. We also:
- Prepare wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Administer estates, and
- Deal with cross-border issues
Our tax lawyers are recognised authorities in their field and regularly give lectures and hold seminars for other professional advisers in various countries across the world.
