Congratulations to Robert Drysdale for completing the annual 5.25 mile BLDSA Coniston Water Championship last weekend. Robert, an Associate in our Wealth Planning team at Rooks Rider Solicitors, completed the event in under three hours. He was joined by 30 fellow swimmers, not all of whom finished the event.
Commenting on his achievement, Roberts says: “In common with the weather being experienced further north at the Open in St Andrews, conditions were of course windy, rainy and cold in the main, although I do recall there was some welcome sunshine too! BLDSA rules do not permit wetsuits for any of their swims, so it’s a pretty challenging swim for everyone. I already have some swimming experience of many of the lakes up here such as neighbouring Windermere, but this is one of my favourites places, with the Donald Campbell connection and his record–breaking boat Bluebird K7.”
The BLDSA organises a number of key events around the country including the Champion of Champions in Dover Harbour, Windermere one-way and two-way and the length of Loch Lomond.
