Landlords: Are you ready for the ‘Right to Rent’ rules?

The government has announced that from 1 February 2016, all private landlords in England (including those who sub-let or take in lodgers) will have to check that new tenants of residential property have the right to be in the UK before renting out their property to them i.e. that they have the ‘Right to Rent’. The Right to Rent scheme has been introduced as part of the government’s reforms to the immigration system.
