Government announces increase in the bankruptcy petition threshold from £750 to £5,000

On 15 January 2015, the Government announced that, with effect from 1 October 2015, it would be increasing the threshold for which a creditor can petition for a debtor’s bankruptcy from the current limit of £750 to £5,000.
