Code of practice for commercial sector under review

The government has announced that it is currently working with leading businesses and trade associations to publish a code of practice in order to support high street business during these challenging times.

The new code of practice is intended to benefit both high street tenants and landlords to provide clarity over rent payments, arrears and the treatment of sub-letters and suppliers with fair and transparent discussions between landlords and tenants.

This code of practice will work alongside the current legislation, such as the Coronavirus Act 2020, which has provided protection to commercial tenants to enable many to continue trading during these difficult times.

We will provide a update when further information is published.
